Quick Verdict

This thing looks like an oversized toaster and runs 10 jobs, including dehydrate and a waffle preset I’d never seen before. At 21 quarts and 1800 watts, it’s built to swallow up the counter clutter. If you want one box that toasts, air fries, bakes, and roasts, this is it.

Buy if you:

  • Want one appliance to replace your toaster, air fryer, and dehydrator
  • Cook for a household and need more than a tiny basket fryer
  • Like big, clear buttons over fiddly tiny touchscreens
  • Want top and bottom heater control for how your food browns

It Looks Like a Toaster, Cooks Like Half Your Kitchen

The moment I unboxed this, my toaster, basket air fryer, and the dehydrator I’d been eyeing all became redundant at once. The Nuwave Bravo Air Fryer Toaster Smart Oven is a 21-quart, 1800-watt countertop oven with 10 preset functions, including a waffle mode I’ve never seen on one of these before, and the design is clean enough that it doesn’t look like a sacrifice to leave it on the counter permanently.

I like to call myself an air fryer queen. I didn’t have an oven for about four years, and all I used was my air fryer. So when something promises to do the toasting, the air frying, the baking, and the dehydrating all at once, I pay attention. This of course is going to replace so many different electronics, saving you real counter space.

10 Functions, 21 Quarts, and a Waffle Button

Ten preset functions cover toast, air fry, bake, broil, dehydrate, pizza, reheat, roast, bagel, and waffle, plus manual mode for anything else. Hit the menu button and you scroll through toast, air fry, bake, broil, dehydrate, pizza, reheat, roast, bagel, or waffle. This thing even dehydrates. And I don’t even think I’ve seen waffle as an option before on one of these, which I think is really cool.

If you don’t want any of the presets, you have your temperature and your time, and you can just put those in manually. The Nuwave runs from 50°F all the way up to 450°F, and it’s an 1800-watt unit, so there’s real power behind it. One of the features I keep coming back to is the top and bottom heater control, which you can adjust from 0% to 100% depending on how you want your food to brown.

The Trays Slide Out, and That’s the Cleanup Win

The slide-out crumb sheet catches mess in seconds and makes cleanup the single easiest part of owning this unit. It comes with a few different trays: a nice baking pan, the crumb sheet, the air frying basket, and the tray that mounts up top. I love that the crumb sheet just kind of slides out like this, because it’s going to make cleaning really easy. Catch the mess, slide it out, done.

Probably one of my favorite things are how big the buttons and the numbers are. Everything is super clear. You just turn it on or off, then hit the menu button and scroll. No squinting, no guessing which icon means what. For anybody who finds tiny touchscreens annoying, this is a relief. The whole front panel reads at a glance from across the kitchen.

It’s also a real countertop unit. It’s just kind of a little bit smaller than a microwave, but it’s got a really great look to it. So you get the full-size oven cooking surface without it eating your entire counter the way some of these all-in-ones do.

Air Frying Is Trial and Error, So Plan for a Few Misses

Air frying takes 2, 3 test runs per food to dial in temps and times; that’s the learning curve, not a flaw. I always tell people, if you’ve never used an air fryer before, that’s just how it goes. The first few times you try something, sometimes it doesn’t work. You pull it out, it’s not quite there, so you just put it back in and you’re good to go.

That’s not a knock on this oven specifically. It’s the nature of air frying. But if you’re coming in expecting every preset to nail your food on the first run, you’ll be frustrated. Give yourself a few rounds to learn how your favorites cook in this thing. Once you’ve got your times and temps dialed, it’s smooth, but those first attempts are part of the deal.

Who This Is Actually For

This is for the person whose counter is drowning in single-use gadgets. If you’ve got a toaster, a basket air fryer, and you’ve been eyeing a dehydrator, this one box folds all three into a single footprint. That’s the dream for a small kitchen that still wants real cooking range.

It also fits the cook who, like me, has leaned hard on an air fryer for years. I didn’t have an oven for about four years and only used my air fryer, so I know how far one good appliance can stretch. This goes further, because the 21-quart capacity and bake, broil, and roast modes mean you’re not stuck with just crispy snacks. You can run an actual meal through it.

The included recipe book is a small but useful thing: instead of staring at ten presets and guessing where to start, you’ve got actual meal ideas mapped to the specific functions. For anyone who’s never dehydrated food or used a broil-and-roast combo before, it cuts down the trial-and-error ramp considerably.

Buying Tips Before You Plug It In

Measure your counter first. It runs a little smaller than a microwave, but a little smaller than a microwave is still a real chunk of space, and you want clearance above it for the heat to vent.

Start with the presets, then go manual. Toast, air fry, bake, broil, dehydrate, pizza, reheat, roast, bagel, and waffle give you a fast on-ramp, but the temperature and time controls are right there for when you want to override. The top and bottom heater adjustment from 0% to 100% is the feature worth learning, because that’s how you fix food that browns too fast on one side. And use that crumb sheet from day one, since pulling it out to clean beats scrubbing the floor of the oven later. The Nuwave Bravo rewards a little patience up front.

Pros

  • 10 functions including dehydrate and a waffle preset I’d never seen before
  • Big, clear buttons and numbers that read across the room
  • Crumb sheet slides out for easy cleaning
  • Top and bottom heater control from 0% to 100%
  • Roomy 21-quart, 1800-watt capacity that replaces several appliances
  • Comes with a recipe book that gives you a real starting point

Cons

  • Air frying is trial and error, so expect a few misses while you learn it
  • Runs a little smaller than a microwave, but still a sizable counter footprint
  • Overkill if you only ever reheat one snack at a time

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the trays dishwasher safe?

The trays pull out easily, and the crumb sheet in particular is designed to slide right out for cleaning. The oven is stainless steel and PFAS free. For whether each specific tray is dishwasher safe, check the care guide in the box, since a quick hand wash is the safest bet for the air frying basket either way.

How big is it, and will it fit on a normal counter?

It sits a little smaller than a microwave, so it fits most standard counters as long as you’ve got vertical clearance above it. With 21 quarts of capacity inside, it’s roomy where it counts. Measure your space and leave room above the unit for venting before you commit.

Can it really replace my other kitchen appliances?

For most home cooks, yes, it folds a toaster, an air fryer, and a dehydrator into one unit, plus bake, broil, and roast. I went four years using only an air fryer, and this does far more than that did. If you run a high-volume kitchen with specialized gear, you’ll still want some of your dedicated tools.

What’s the temperature range?

It runs from 50°F up to 450°F. That low end is what makes dehydrating possible, and the high end covers roasting and air frying. You can set temperature and time manually instead of using a preset whenever you want more control.

What does the top and bottom heater control do?

You can adjust the top and bottom heaters independently from 0% to 100%, so you control how food browns on each side. It’s useful when something crisps too fast up top before the bottom is done. Most countertop ovens don’t give you that level of control.

Is it good for someone who’s never used an air fryer?

Yes, but expect a learning curve. Air frying is trial and error no matter the brand, so your first few attempts at a new food might need a second pass. The big clear buttons and recipe book make it beginner-friendly, and once you learn your favorites it’s smooth sailing.

Does it come with accessories?

It includes a baking pan, the slide-out crumb sheet, an air frying basket, and a tray that mounts up top, plus a recipe book. That covers air frying, baking, and crumb-catching out of the box. The recipe book is a nice extra for figuring out where to start.

Is the interior coating safe?

The oven is built as PFAS free and uses stainless steel construction. That matters if you’re trying to avoid certain nonstick chemistries in your cooking gear. As always, follow the included care instructions to keep the surfaces in good shape over time.

Can it dehydrate fruit and jerky?

Yes, dehydrate is one of the built-in functions, which surprised me since not every air fryer oven includes it. The 50°F low temperature end is what makes slow drying possible. That alone can replace a standalone dehydrator on your counter.
