The 30X side: nobody wants it but everybody needs it

That super intense close-up is the whole reason this mirror exists. One side is a normal 1X reflection, and the flip side is a 30X magnification that shows every pore, every stray hair, every detail you’d rather not see. We said it on camera: that’s the close-up that nobody likes to look at. But the fact that you have both on one stand is what makes it worth it. You glance at the normal side, then flip to the 30X for the precision stuff like tweezing and eyeliner. Grab the Auxmir lighted mirror on Amazon here if that combo is what you’ve been missing.

Quick heads up from the product notes: keep about 4 inches back from the 30X side or it can get dizzying. That tracks. 30X is a lot of magnification, and it’s meant for detail work, not for staring at your whole face at once.

What you’re working with, spec by spec

The mirror sits between 14.9 and 18.5 inches tall depending on where you set the arm, the head swivels 360°, and the whole thing runs on a 3000mAh battery rated for 8.5 hours per charge. Here’s every spec Auxmir lists.

Setup took two minutes, not even

Two minutes out of the box, and that’s being generous. You attach one screw so the mirror sits on the stand, and that’s the whole build. So simple out of the box. From there the arm adjusts up and down for height, the head flips around, and you turn it whichever way works best for where you’re sitting. No tools beyond the one screw, no instructions you have to decode.

The lighting is where you’ll spend a minute playing around. Three modes: warm, cool, and a by-color option, plus you can dim it to adjust the brightness. That covers daylight makeup, warm evening light, and whatever mood you’re after. It’s rechargeable too, and the charging cable comes in the box, so you can leave it plugged in all the time or run it off the battery when you want it portable.

The little details that surprised us

The base flips up, and we didn’t realize it at first. Once it does, your phone can sit right in there while you do your makeup, which we thought was cute. You can also drop jewelry or a couple of products in that little slot while you’re using the mirror. It’s the kind of thing you don’t notice in the listing photos until it’s in front of you.

The bottom of the base has a nice velvety material, so it’s not going to slip and slide around, and it won’t scratch your vanity. And the tweezers it comes with are metal, not the flimsy plastic ones you usually get thrown in as a freebie. They have actual grip and heft, the kind you’d buy separately. Taken together with the velvet base and the flip-up phone slot, the mirror feels like someone thought through how people actually use it, not just how it photographs.

The power-off double tap took us a second

Turning it off is not obvious. The power and light controls are touch-based, and switching modes is easy enough, but to shut it off you have to do a quick double tap right on the control. That actually took us a couple seconds to figure out the first time. It’s not a deal-breaker once you know the trick, but if you’re expecting a single press to kill the light, you’ll be tapping at it wondering why it won’t turn off. There’s also a 30-minute auto-off timer built in, so worst case it shuts itself down if you walk away and forget.

Auxmir 9-Inch Dual-Sided Lighted Makeup Mirror Review

Who this 9-inch mirror actually fits

If you do detail work and your bathroom lighting fights you, this is the one. Tweezing, eyeliner, brows, close-up skincare, anything where you need to see exactly what you’re doing. The 30X side handles the precision and the 1X side handles the full-face check. The three light modes mean you can match your makeup light to wherever you’ll actually be that day.

It also fits people who move around. Because it’s rechargeable and runs up to 8.5 hours per charge, you can take it from the vanity to a desk near a window without hunting for an outlet. In practice, 8.5 hours means a full week of morning routines before you need to plug it back in. At 9 inches it’s big enough to be useful but not so big it dominates a small vanity.

30X mirror vs a basic tabletop mirror

A plain unlit tabletop mirror costs less, sure. But it gives you one magnification, no light, and a base that slides around. This Auxmir gives you two mirror sides, three light modes with dimming, a rechargeable battery, the velvety non-slip base, a phone slot, and metal tweezers in the box. The trade-off is the touch controls take a minute to learn versus a mirror that has no controls at all. If all you want is a quick reflection by the door, a basic mirror is fine. If you actually get ready in front of it, the lit dual-sided version is a different category of useful.

A few tips before you set it up

Charge it first so you can test it untethered, then decide whether you’d rather leave it plugged in on the vanity. Learn the double-tap-to-off right away so it doesn’t catch you off guard later. Keep about 4 inches back from the 30X side, that’s the comfortable distance for detail work without it getting dizzying. And use that flip-up base, it’s easy to miss but the phone and jewelry slot is one of the better small touches here. Ready to try it? Check today’s price on Amazon.

Pros

  • Two-minute setup with a single screw
  • Dual-sided: normal 1X plus a 30X close-up for detail work
  • Three light modes (warm, cool, by-color) with dimmable brightness
  • Rechargeable battery with the charging cable included, so it’s portable
  • Velvety non-slip base that won’t scratch a vanity, plus a flip-up phone and jewelry slot
  • Comes with heavy-duty metal tweezers, not flimsy plastic

Cons

  • Turning it off needs a double tap that took us a couple seconds to figure out
  • The 30X side is intense and can feel dizzying if you get too close
  • It’s a desktop stand, not a wall-mount option

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the battery last per charge?

Up to 8.5 hours per charge on the built-in 3000mAh battery. You charge it over USB with the included cable, and you can leave it plugged in all the time if you’d rather not think about it.

Can I use it while it’s charging?

Yes. It charges over USB and you can keep it plugged in continuously while using it. The battery just means you also have the option to run it cord-free when you want it portable.

Is 30X magnification too strong for everyday makeup?

30X is meant for detail tasks like tweezing, brows, and eyeliner, not full-face makeup. Use the 1X side for the overall look and flip to 30X for precision. Keep about 4 inches back from the 30X side so it doesn’t get dizzying.

Does it work with a power bank?

Yes. The USB charging is compatible with a laptop, a power bank, or a regular charger. That makes it easy to top up wherever you are.

Will the base slide around or scratch my vanity?

No. The bottom has a velvety material so it won’t slip, slide, or scratch the surface. It stays put on a vanity or desk.

How do you turn the light off?

A quick double tap on the touch control shuts it off. It’s not a single press, which is why it took us a second the first time. There’s also a 30-minute auto-off timer if you forget.

Does it come with anything in the box besides the mirror?

It includes the USB charging cable and a pair of metal tweezers. The tweezers are heavy duty rather than the cheap plastic kind, so they’re worth keeping.

Can I adjust the height and angle?

Yes. The arm raises and lowers between roughly 14.9 and 18.5 inches, and the mirror flips around and swivels 360° so you can point it whichever way works best for where you’re sitting.

Is there a warranty?

Auxmir lists a 3-year quality assurance plus lifetime customer service support, and there’s a free 30-day refund or replacement window. Check the live listing for the current terms before you buy.
