TruSpan Creatine Monohydrate Powder Review

I've never been a creatine girly. TruSpan's berry fusion is the first one I'd actually add to my daily routine. Here's why.

I don’t like creatine. There, I said it. My husband takes it every single day and he’s been trying to get me on it for ages, but every time I add regular creatine to water it gives it this strange, kind of gritty texture that never dissolves properly. He gets away with it because he stirs his into coffee, where it dissolves well and has no flavor. I don’t drink coffee. So for me it’s always been a hard no.

Quick Verdict

I’ve dodged creatine for years because plain powder gives water a weird texture and never dissolves right. One scoop of TruSpan Berry Fusion in a glass and the berry flavor really comes through. This is the first creatine I’d actually add to my daily routine.

Buy if you:

  • Gag on plain, gritty creatine that won’t dissolve in water
  • Don’t drink coffee, so the “hide it in your coffee” trick doesn’t work for you
  • Want a berry or orange flavor you can just add to a shaker jug with ice
  • Like that it’s sugar-free with only 10 calories per scoop
Creatine per serving2.5g creatine monohydrate
Also includesL-Taurine, L-Glycine, L-Lysine, sea moss, vitamins C, D3, K2

I Really Wanted To Be a Creatine Girly. It Just Wasn’t For Me.

That’s exactly why I wanted to try the TruSpan Creatine Monohydrate Powder. This one has a flavor, so I can just add it to water instead of hiding it in a drink I don’t drink. I grabbed the Berry Fusion (there’s also an Orange Splash) and tried it for the very first time on camera, no idea if it would win me over or end up like every other creatine I’ve quietly abandoned.

What’s Actually In The Scoop

It’s creatine plus essential amino acids, not just plain creatine. Each serving has 2.5g of creatine monohydrate, and then TruSpan stacks in L-Taurine, L-Glycine and L-Lysine, sea moss, and vitamins C, D3 and K2. There’s also Himalayan pink salt in the mix, which turned out to matter more than I expected once I tasted it. The whole thing is a micronized powder, sugar-free, with no artificial sweeteners.

The tub is 9.85 ounces and gives you 30 servings, so a scoop a day gets you through the month. Only 10 calories per scoop, which I loved. The directions just say mix one scoop with 12 to 16 ounces of water. There’s a little scooper tucked inside, which I always appreciate.

Opening It Up And The First Stir

The second I popped the lid it smelled super good. All I could smell was berry. I dug out the scooper, got one level scoop (it was a little stuck in there, I had to knock it loose), and dropped it into my glass of water.

Right off the bat the powder looked like it was already ready to dissolve, which is not something I can say about the plain creatine I’ve fought with before. I gave it a couple of little spins, expecting to make a mess and send it flying everywhere with my luck. It didn’t. The color came out this pretty berry shade and it went into the water way easier than I braced for. No clumping, no chalky film sitting on top.

The Salty Surprise Nobody Warns You About

It’s saltier than I expected. That’s the one thing that caught me off guard on the first sip. It definitely makes sense with the Himalayan pink salt in there, but I wasn’t ready for it, partly because I made a rookie mistake: I didn’t use cold water. I just kind of grabbed a glass of room-temp water because that’s what I had within reach, and this drink is clearly built for cold.

Once I got past that salty note, the berry flavor really comes through and I was loving it. If the saltiness bugs you, you can dilute it with a bit more water and it mellows right out. In one of my little shaker jugs with ice, some water, and this scoop, I think it would be near perfect. Room-temp is the setup that let the salt lead. Cold is where the berry wins.

Who This Creatine Is Actually For

This one is for the person who has already quit plain creatine once. If you’ve stirred a scoop into water, watched it refuse to dissolve, and quietly poured it down the drain, that’s who TruSpan Berry Fusion is built for. Specifically, it’s for people who can’t use the coffee trick because they don’t drink coffee, and don’t want to blend a smoothie every morning just to choke down a supplement.

It’s also a good fit if you’re someone who wants creatine plus a few extras in one scoop instead of stacking a bunch of products. The amino acids, sea moss, and the vitamin C, D3 and K2 are all in the same 10-calorie scoop. And if you keep a shaker jug going through the day, this slots into that routine really easily.

Flavored TruSpan vs. Plain Creatine In Coffee

Plain unflavored creatine wins if you already drink coffee. My husband’s whole system works because his creatine dissolves into his morning coffee with no flavor, no fuss. If that’s you, you may not need a flavored version at all, and unflavored powders are usually simpler.

But the flavored TruSpan wins for everyone the coffee trick fails. That’s me. I needed something I could put in plain water and actually want to drink, and the Berry Fusion delivers that in a way plain creatine never did for me. The trade-off is the salt note and the fact that it really wants cold water. Plain creatine in coffee doesn’t have that quirk. Pick based on whether you drink coffee, that’s the whole decision.

My Tips Before You Add Your First Scoop

Use cold water and ice from the start. My biggest mistake was grabbing room-temp water, which let the Himalayan pink salt take center stage. Cold water pushes the berry forward and tones down the salt.

Start with 16 ounces rather than 12 if you’re salt-sensitive, since more water dilutes that salty edge. Knock the scooper against the side to loosen the powder, it stuck a little in the tub the first time. And give it just a couple of gentle spins rather than a hard stir if you’re using an open glass, because it dissolves fast and you don’t need to send it flying everywhere.

Pros

  • Dissolves fast, no gritty clumps or chalky film like plain creatine gave me
  • Berry Fusion smells and tastes really good, the berry flavor comes through strong
  • Only 10 calories per scoop and sugar-free with no artificial sweeteners
  • Creatine plus amino acids, sea moss, and vitamins C, D3, K2 in one scoop
  • Includes a scooper and mixes easily into a shaker jug with ice

Cons

  • Saltier than expected on first taste, thanks to the Himalayan pink salt
  • Really needs cold water and ice, room-temp water makes the salt dominate
  • Flavored, so it’s not ideal if you want a taste-free powder for coffee or shakes

What we’d improve

Two small tweaks that would take this from good to a daily favorite:

  • Dial back the salt, or flag it on the label, The Himalayan pink salt hits harder than expected in plain water. A slightly lighter hand, or a clear “best served cold” note on the front, would set the right expectation.
  • Loosen the powder in the tub, My scoop stuck in the powder on the first pull. A little more headroom or a looser pack would make that first scoop cleaner.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does TruSpan creatine really dissolve better than regular creatine?

Yes, in my test it looked ready to dissolve almost immediately and went into water with just a couple of spins. Regular creatine has always given me a gritty, undissolved texture in water. This one didn’t do that.

How much creatine do you get per serving?

Each scoop has 2.5g of creatine monohydrate. The tub holds 30 servings in a 9.85-ounce package, so one scoop a day lasts about a month.

Can I mix it with something other than water?

It’s intended to mix with water, shakes, or smoothies. Since it’s flavored (Berry Fusion or Orange Splash), plain cold water works great, but you could blend it into a smoothie if you want it thicker. Just know the flavor will carry into whatever you mix it with.

Is it good for women specifically?

It’s designed for both men and women, but the flavor angle matters most if you’re someone who has bailed on plain creatine before. I never made it past a few days with unflavored powder. The Berry Fusion is the first version I finished a full week of without skipping a day, and for creatine, consistency is the only thing that actually moves the needle.

Why does it taste salty?

The saltiness comes from the Himalayan pink salt in the formula. It’s more noticeable in room-temp water. Use cold water with ice, or add more water, and the salt takes a back seat to the berry.

Does it have sugar or artificial sweeteners?

No. It’s sugar-free with no artificial sweeteners, and it’s only 10 calories per scoop. That was one of the things that made it easy to work into my daily routine.

Can it be returned if I don’t like the flavor?

It’s listed as non-returnable due to food safety regulations. If you’re unsure about flavor, that’s worth knowing before you buy. There are two options (Berry Fusion and Orange Splash) if one doesn’t suit you.

Should I check with a doctor before taking it?

If you’re pregnant, nursing, take medication, or have a kidney condition, check with your doctor before starting any creatine or amino acid supplement. I’m sharing my taste-test experience, not medical advice.

How long until creatine makes a difference?

Most research points to four to eight weeks of daily use before creatine meaningfully affects strength or recovery, which means the supplement only works if you actually take it every day. That’s where flavored creatine earns its keep: I skipped plain powder constantly because I dreaded the texture. I haven’t skipped this one yet.

The salt note demands cold water; without it, the flavor flattens. But it’s the first creatine I’ve stuck with past week one. Skip it if you want an unflavored powder for coffee. A lighter hand on the Himalayan salt and this is a five for me.
