Steam Cleaner Gets Your Grout Clean in 2 Minutes

Byshop sent me this steam cleaner and I tried it for the very first time on camera. I’ve used steamers before where you’re literally waiting 10, 15 minutes for the canister to get hot enough to clean anything. This one? Less than 2 minutes and the steam was going. That alone changes how you feel about grabbing it for a quick job. You can check the current price and availability on Amazon here if you want to skip ahead.

First thing I noticed picking it up: it feels very, very comfortable in the hand. The whole unit is quite small, and the handle is nice. This is a handheld steam cleaner you can hold all day without your arm giving out, which matters when you’re crawling around a bathroom floor doing grout.

Water Only, Three Steam Levels, One Screen

Fill the tank with water and nothing else. Do not put any chemical or cleaning solution in there, this only holds water, and that’s very important to note. The canister is transparent with a level marking so you always know how much water you’ve got left.

You plug it into an outlet, hit the screen, and the plus button steps you up through levels one, two and three. That’s your steam intensity. I left it on three to see what it could do. The screen is nice and simple, no holding down a trigger the whole time.

The Attachments Lock In With One Twist

The attachments are the whole story here. When you first look at the pile of adapters you might feel a little overwhelmed, you don’t know what each one does. I get it. But once you attach the base end onto the steamer, everything else connects the exact same way.

You’ve got two notches on the tool and two on the steamer end. Line them up, slip it in, and twist. As soon as you twist, it locks. To take it off, twist the other way and pop it out. That’s it. I did it over and over on camera and it never fought me.

What I love about the hose is that it’s completely rubberized. It gets warm, but it’s not going to hurt you. I’ve tried steamers with metallic hoses before and that’s exactly what you don’t want. The rubberized hose makes a real difference when you’re reaching into tough spots.

Grout, Grease and a Squeegee for Windows

The bristle brush is the one I reach for on grout. Really nice hard bristles. As you run it across tile, the steam comes out right at the head while the bristles lift the dirt and the stain out of the grout line. You’re not scrubbing your life away, the steam does the heavy work.

For nasty stubborn stains there’s a focused jet tip. It’s super powerful and you’ve got to be very, very careful because that concentrated steam is extremely hot. But for stains around the kitchen, inside the microwave, those baked-on spots around the stove top, it’s super, super good. You’re just using the power of steam.

Then there’s the scraper. I love using this. I remember doing a paint project with something like this, you get paint drippings all over the tile, the floor, the wood, and you just steam and scrape and wipe it right off. There’s a softer mega brush that’s safe on practically any surface, and a smaller detail brush that follows railings, bay windows and sliding-door tracks.

My favorite trick is the window setup. There’s a buffing bonnet that grabs handprints off the fridge while it steams. And you can combine the squeegee piece with the smaller steam head so the steam comes out while you squeegee down glass and mirrors in one pass. This is crazy cool, and it’s the kind of thing most steam cleaners at this size don’t bother to include.

You Can’t Walk Away Once It’s Hot

Here’s the catch: once it’s up to temperature, you can’t just leave it sitting there. Once it’s up to temperature, you can’t just leave it sitting there. The steam is going to spurt out on its own. On camera I had to remember to install my attachment and start my project before it hit full heat, otherwise it just vents hot steam into the air. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it’s worth knowing before you set it down on the counter to grab a rag.

Same with the focused jet tip, that thing throws steam hot enough that you don’t want your hand anywhere near the path. Respect it and you’re fine. Get lazy with it and you’ll feel it. This is a real tool, not a toy.

Who This Handheld Steam Cleaner Is For

If your cleaning nemesis is grout, tile and baked-on kitchen grime, this is your tool. It’s for people who want to clean chemical-free and are tired of buying five different bottles for five different surfaces. One tank of water covers the bathroom, the stove top, curtains, glass and furniture.

It’s also the best handheld I’ve used for car detailing. At 1.95 pounds you can run the detail brush down a door seam or into an AC vent without your arm fighting you, and the mega brush on seats and mats moves dirt without soaking the fabric the way a wet cleaner would.

Renters, this one’s for you too. No mounting, no plumbing, plug into any outlet, done.

Steam vs. a Cabinet Full of Chemical Sprays

The real comparison isn’t another steamer, it’s the pile of chemical cleaners this replaces. Grout spray, glass cleaner, degreaser, tile scrub. Each one is a bottle, a smell, and a surface it’s not supposed to touch.

Steam is one input, water, and it cuts grout, glass and baked-on grease without you switching bottles or surfaces. The real cost is two minutes of heat-up and a cord. A spray bottle is faster to grab; this is faster on the stain. For anything that’s been sitting there long enough to laugh at your sponge, there’s no contest.

Set It Up Right or It Leaks

Biggest tip: make sure every attachment is fully locked in with that twist. If a piece isn’t seated properly, water can leak out where the attachment meets the steamer. It only takes a second to twist it home, so don’t rush that step.

Second, plan your job before it hits temperature so you’re not standing there letting steam spurt into the room. Pick your attachment, get your surface ready, then fire it up. And only ever put plain water in the tank, chemicals will wreck it. Do those three things and it’s so simple and so fast, look how easy it is to just go down into little crevices without lugging the whole unit around.

Pros

  • Steam going in under 2 minutes, no more waiting 10-15 minutes like older steamers
  • Feels very comfortable in the hand and light at 1.95 lb
  • Rubberized hose gets warm but won’t burn you
  • Attachments lock in with one twist and all use the same connection
  • Versatile across grout, kitchen grease, windows, railings, car interiors

Cons

  • Once hot, it vents steam on its own if you set it down, you can’t walk away
  • The focused jet is extremely hot and demands real caution
  • Corded, so you’re tethered to an outlet
  • The bag of attachments looks overwhelming until you learn the twist-lock

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I put cleaning solution or vinegar in the tank?

No. Water only, this is very important. Any chemical or cleaning solution can damage the heating system. The whole point is that steam alone does the cleaning, so you don’t need additives.

Is it safe to use on sealed hardwood or delicate surfaces?

Use the softer mega brush for anything delicate, it’s safe on practically any type of surface. Save the focused jet and the hard bronze-style bristle brush for grout and stubborn grime. Always test a hidden spot first, since the steam hits up to 230°F.

How long can I clean before refilling the water tank?

It depends on your steam level, higher settings use more water per second. The transparent graduated tank lets you watch the level the whole time, and the isolated tank design means you can refill whenever without waiting for it to cool down.

Do the attachments leak?

Only if you don’t lock them in fully. Line up the two notches, slip the attachment on and twist until it clicks into place. A loose attachment is where water can escape, so seat every piece properly before you steam.

Does the hose get too hot to hold?

No. The hose is completely rubberized, so it gets warm but won’t hurt your hand. That’s a big upgrade over steamers with metallic hoses that can burn you.

Can I use it to clean my car interior?

Yes, it’s one of my favorite uses. The detail brush follows seams and vents, and the mega brush works great on seats and mats. The light weight makes it easy to maneuver inside a cramped cabin.

Is this a cordless steam cleaner?

No, it plugs into an outlet with a 10-foot cord, plus a 4-foot extension tube for reach. If you need a fully cordless unit, this isn’t it, but the cord length covers most rooms without swapping outlets constantly.

How is it different from a big canister steam cleaner?

It’s far lighter and faster to heat, under 2 minutes versus the long waits I’ve had with older units. Big canister steamers hold more water and cover large floors, but for grout, kitchen, glass and detail work this handheld is easier to control and less tiring to hold.

One tank of water, under 2 minutes to heat, and it replaces the grout spray, the degreaser and the glass cleaner in a single pass. Get this steam cleaner here.
