Dreame Gleam Travel Hair Dryer: Fast Drying Review
I timed the Dreame Gleam on my full head of long fine hair. Medium heat, full fan: 3 minutes 16 seconds. Here's what else stood out.
The Dreame Gleam travel hair dryer is worth buying if you skip blow-drying because it takes too long. It dried my full head of long, fine hair in 3 minutes 16 seconds on medium heat, weighs 330g, and the magnetic attachments swap instantly. Skip it if you have curly hair and need a serious diffuser.

Quick Verdict
3 minutes and 16 seconds. That’s my whole head of long, fine hair, on medium heat, full fan strength, and it came out super dry apart from a bit behind my neck. The thing weighs 330g, so my hand never got tired, which is the actual reason I used to avoid blow-drying.
Buy if you:
- skip blow-drying because your arm gets tired holding a heavy dryer
- have long, fine, pin-straight hair and want it dry in under 4 minutes
- travel and want a dryer that fits in a carry-on with a proper zip bag
- hate fumbling with click-on nozzles (these are magnetic)
Skip if you:
- have curly hair and need a real diffuser. The one included is small and did nothing for me
- want a long cord to reach across a bathroom. It’s 1.5 m
- already own a dryer you’re happy with and don’t care about weight

Dreame Gleam Travel Hair Dryer: 3 Minutes to Dry
I hit the timer, dried my entire head, and stopped at 3 minutes 16. Probably 15, because it took me a second to find the off switch. Medium heat, full strength. That’s it.
Here’s the thing about me and blow-drying: I like the way my hair looks when it’s done. I just never do it, because I’m always like, oh, it takes so long. So the whole point of putting the Dreame Gleam travel hair dryer on a timer was to find out whether that excuse still holds.
It doesn’t. My hair is long and pretty fine, and it came out super dry. A little damp behind my neck, but I’ll be straight with you, that’s because I was already sweating before I started. I can’t even imagine how fast it would be on the hot setting.
The Diffuser Is Dead Weight for Straight Hair
Two attachments come in the box, and I only used one. The diffuser-style head is for curly hair. My hair is pin straight, so it does nothing for me. Into the bag it went.
If your hair is straight, the diffuser goes straight into the bag and stays there, you’re effectively paying for a part you’ll never touch. The 1.5 m cord is the same trade-off: workable at a hotel desk, genuinely annoying if the only outlet is on the opposite wall from the mirror.
Magnetic Attachments and the Cool-Touch Button
Both attachments are magnetic, and I absolutely love this. You bring the nozzle near the barrel and it snaps on. You can spin it to whatever angle you want while it’s running. No twisting, no lining up tabs, no fighting a plastic clip with one wet hand.

Then there’s the button on the side. There are two speed modes and the temperature cycles through cold, warm, and hot. You can also set it to cycle through all three automatically, which is really nice. Blue for cold, an orangey-yellow for warm, red for hot. You know where you are at a glance.
The part I used most: if it’s on red and you need a second to cool down, just hold your finger over that button and it drops straight to cold air. I showed it on camera. Red to blue, air goes cold immediately. Release it and you’re back to hot. For someone who sweats the moment the hot air starts, that’s the feature I’ll keep reaching for.
Spec-wise, the motor spins at 110,000 RPM and pushes 65 m/s of air on 1,600 W, and Dreame rates it at 59 dB. It’s loud, as all dryers are, but not the shriek I expected for that kind of airflow.

That Bag Is Better Than It Needs To Be
The travel bag zips shut with both attachments inside and still fits flat in a carry-on, no stuffing, no crushing the nozzle sideways. At 330g, the Gleam is lighter than the bottle of conditioner I usually pack next to it. Most travel dryers I’ve used feel like a compromise; this one doesn’t.
That weight is the real story. The other reason I hate blow-drying my hair is that my hand gets tired, because most dryers are heavy. This one never got there in 3 minutes.
Which Dreame Gleam Should You Get
Pick the color, that’s about the only choice. The Dreame Gleam comes in Pink, Blue, Purple, and Gray, and the hardware is the same across all four. There’s a 2-year warranty on it.
Before you buy, know that it’s a 1,600 W dryer built for travel, so the power pull is real if you’re heading somewhere with iffy outlets. And decide whether you care about the diffuser. If you have curls and that’s your main attachment, go look at what a full-size dryer gives you instead.
Pros
- Dried my whole head of long, fine hair in 3 minutes 16 on medium heat
- 330g, so zero hand fatigue during the run
- Magnetic attachments snap on and rotate freely
- Hold-to-cool button switches to cold air instantly
- Travel bag fits the dryer and both heads, and the zippers hold under repeated packing
Cons
- The diffuser attachment does nothing for pin-straight hair
- 1.5 m cord is short if your outlet isn’t near the mirror
- Hot setting had me sweating fast, I ended up on medium the whole time
What we’d improve
Two things the next version could fix without much effort:
- The power button placement, it took me an extra second to find the off switch at the end of my timed run, which is why my time reads 3:16 instead of 3:15.
- Attachment choice, let buyers swap the diffuser for a second smoothing nozzle or a concentrator. Straight-haired buyers are carrying a dead part in that nice bag.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will it work on 220V outlets abroad?
Check the voltage rating printed on the unit before you pack it. It’s a 1,600 W dryer, and that’s the single spec that trips people up on international trips. If it isn’t dual voltage, a travel adapter alone won’t save it, you’d need a converter.
How do you clean it?
Pop the rear filter area and clear the lint. High-speed dryers pull a lot of air, so a clogged intake is the number one reason one of these starts underperforming or running hot. Do it every few weeks and wipe the plastic body with a dry cloth, no water.
What happens if I lose an attachment?
You’d need a Dreame replacement, because the magnetic mount is proprietary and generic nozzles won’t clip on. That’s the trade-off for the snap-on convenience. Keep both heads in the travel bag, that’s what it’s there for.
Is it safe for color-treated or bleached hair?
Dreame holds a constant 57°C using closed-loop control that samples temperature 100 times per second, which is the whole point of the design. Combined with the negative ion output, it’s aimed at not frying your hair. If you’re nervous, run it on warm and use the hold-to-cool button between passes.
3 minutes 16 seconds and a 330g body killed both excuses I’d had for years. If those are your excuses too, the link below has today’s price.
